My First Covid Vaccine
As the days go on, the world is starting to return to normal, at least somewhat. Vaccines are being shipped around the globe while stores, restaurants, and local businesses are beginning to see the light of day once more. Today was a big day for me as I stepped foot into a pop-up Covid vaccine administering facility and received my first dose of Moderna. Though I stood in line worried about feeling any residual side effects after the initial shot, I kept my mind focused on the main task at hand, to help slowly erase this virus from existence.
Though it was not on my immediate to-do list before moving to Omaha, the opportunity presented itself in a recent letter from my insurance pushing for me to get it. I never expected to be vaccinated so early this year, and while it will probably delay my moving date a couple weeks back, I know it is for the best. As someone who has longterm medical issues (even immune system issues) thanks to cancer many years ago, I find myself at a higher risk of getting sick from COVID-19. So, while I may feel more side effects than the average person from the vaccine, I know it will help protect me from the main virus which can potentially kill me.
I now look forward to not only my near future of being fully vaccinated and situated in Omaha, but to the world being fully vaccinated so we can put this horrible pandemic to rest. I also pray for the day that we can all go out and enjoy each other’s company safely again without having to constantly measure six feet between each person we meet. While it seems like we’ve been in quarantine for a century now, it's nice to think that we are nearing it all, and seeing brighter days ahead of us.
I know this blog post was short, but I just wanted to send the message out that if you can safely get the vaccine, I suggest you do. It is practically painless, and even better…IT’S FREE! We want the world to be cured, be happier, and to become healthier once more so remember that we are all in this together. Everyone must do their part if we hope to eliminate this horrible virus once and for all! I can’t wait to update you after my final round of vaccines next month and to check back in with you all. So until my next post, stay safe and stay occupied! We can do this! 😁
