The Renee L. Foltz “Reading Builds Character,” charity foundation for children and families in need.

Does anyone know does to start an organization, or charity in someone's name without available funds? While sadly I don't have much of a steady financial income at the moment, I feel I have a pretty good idea of what I'd like to create in my mom's name. And if many of you from my elementary school friends, to family members and newfound friends through the years remember anything about mom, it was her love for visiting schools in costume and reading to children which she did for many years during my childhood, and even after when I started junior high. One of her wishes that she never got to fulfill before she became sick was that she wanted to visit pediatric hospitals and read to children, as well as spread her love for reading and creativity to them.

Now here's my idea: I would like to start a charity foundation in her name of: The Renee L. Foltz "Reading Builds Character," charitable foundation, where donations of either books, or money is regularly provided to children's hospitals in order to help give them the love of reading while they themselves receive treatment for their illnesses. Wether this means that money raised can help families pay for their child's treatments, or give the hospitals the ability to pass out books or toys to children to help distract them during their treatment and give them something constructive to do, or just the simple idea of giving the families and their children something positive in their lives that allows them to set their minds at ease during what can be such a horrendous time period, would be what my plan is. And after being in that position myself almost 18 long years ago, I can most definitely say that something like this would have made such an incredible difference in my treatment plan and the way I hated going back the hospital every month to receive chemo with my family.

Now I know it's just an idea up in the air, but until I either get a job again, or it becomes a reality, I'd really like to focus my time on something that would allow me to stay positive or keep my mind busy, but something that also allows me to honor my mother's amazing life and her unfulfilled wishes which she never got to accomplish due to her own illnesses. Truly upon the subject or mention of this becoming something to create, I would really love to hear further intel, recommendations, or advice in how to get something like this started. Anything would be so beneficial in getting something like this started.

My mother was my best friend and she meant the world to me, and to be able to leave something behind in my lifetime that would impact families for the better, I can't even begin to explain how that would make me feel.
